Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about StudentHood and how the platform is designed to work.

Is StudentHood available on Android?

StudentHood has an Android test build under active beta testing. Visit the Android beta section for installation information. It is not a public Play Store release and access may require permission or sign-in.

Do live messages and notifications work when the app is closed?

Foreground realtime Ping and Drops delivery is being tested. Notifications when the app is closed or the device is locked require a separate push-notification rollout and should not be assumed to be available in this beta.

Are the advanced campus features released?

Crews HQ membership tools, Gigs Plus, Freshers Journey, StudentHood Passport and Cross-Campus Collaborations are being developed and are not yet fully released.

What is StudentHood?

StudentHood is an independent social platform built around everyday student life: people, conversations, moments, meetups, communities and opportunities.

Is StudentHood affiliated with any university?

No. StudentHood is independent and does not claim to be affiliated with, endorsed by, operated by, or partnered with any university.

What is Pulse?

Pulse is the short-lived photo and video update area at the top of Scenes. When posting, students can choose a Peeps or campus audience, subject to privacy and eligibility restrictions.

What are Scenes?

Scenes is the main StudentHood feed. Posts, photos and videos appear there, including viral campus content, nearby activity and moments happening now.

What are Peeps?

Peeps are the people you connect with on StudentHood.

What is Ping?

Ping is the dedicated messaging area. Direct messages, Ping requests, Hang chats and Crew chats belong inside Ping.

What are Drops?

Drops are non-message activity notifications, such as Peep activity, Scene interactions, Hangs, Crews, Gigs and other app events. Message alerts are kept inside Ping.

What happens if I am under 18?

Where local law permits an account, StudentHood uses teen safety mode. Adult or explicit content is excluded and access pauses at 7:00 PM in the account’s saved local time zone, reopening at 7:00 AM. Some countries require a higher minimum age or verified parent or guardian consent, and those local requirements take priority.

Can adults discover or message under-18 users?

Not by default. Under-18 profiles are private. Adult accounts cannot discover a teen profile unless the users are already approved Peeps, and new Pings involving an under-18 account are limited to approved Peeps.

What if a child uses a parent’s adult Google or Apple account?

Google or Apple login is not treated as proof that the person using StudentHood is an adult. StudentHood keeps its own DOB and can compare it with platform age-range signals. If they disagree, the younger category wins until the discrepancy is resolved. An 18+ Google or Apple account alone cannot unlock adult-classified StudentHood content.

What are Hangs, Crews and Gigs?

Hangs are casual meetups and plans. Crews are smaller communities built around shared interests. Gigs are student-relevant opportunities such as work, projects and other useful opportunities.

How do I report a problem?

Use the Report a Problem route in Support. When live accounts are enabled, reporting controls will also be available from relevant content and profile menus inside StudentHood.

How can I contact StudentHood?

Use the Contact Us page for general enquiries and support-related questions.

Where can I read about privacy and safety?

See the Privacy Policy, Safety page, Community Guidelines and Terms of Service linked in the footer of every public StudentHood page.
